8:48
Lots of people would love to have a sequel to "Zombies Ate My Neighbours", but most don't know that there already is one! This 1994 SNES only* sequel sees the return of Zeke and Julie to their civilian rescue duties but now with added dash and slide techniques. Most of the fans of the original consider this an inferior sequel, but if you have finished the original so dive this a shot, you might just like it! Re-released on the Wii Virtual console in US and PAL territories. Enjoy level 1!

* Sega Megadrive version was announced but was cancelled.

[scene opens outside of the public library, as young Julie and Zeke are making their way up the stairs]
ZEKE: Check it out, dudes. There is a cool exhibition about ghosts and demons of the Dark Ages at the library.
JULIE: Come on, Zeke. Let's go!
[cut to inside the library, as the two teenagers find a glowing treasure chest sitting on the floor between two bookshelves]
JULIE: Look out, Zeke. There is something happening to the chest.
[it opens, and a book comes floating out]
ZEKE: No problemo, Julie. It's just some sort of special effect ... This exhibition is totally rad!
JULIE: I don't know, Zeke. I have a funny feeling about this.
[the book drops on the floor, then cut to a closeup over the cover ("Ghosts & Demons") as the two move in for a closer look]
JULIE: Wow, this book looks very old. What do you think is inside?
ZEKE: Dunno. Only one way to find out.
[cut to a closeup of the book opened to a page covered in illegible scribbles]
JULIE: Look at this, Zeke. It is a phrase. It says ... "To you, the reader, best beware. Of ghosts and demons, everywhere. All kinds and sizes, short and tall. Fat, skinny, big and small. But don't worry, or run away. Ghosts and demons just want to play. To play, they need a boy and girl, so these new friends can join this world. To invite them over, say this line. 'It is ghosts and demons time!' But first practice and rehearse. For you must say it in reverse."
ZEKE: Cool! This is fresh, man. Let's say it together.
JULIE: Okay. Whatever you say, Zeke.
ZEKE AND JULIE: Emit snomed dna stsohg si ti.
[cut to a demon (red skin, horns on head) appearing out of the treasure chest]
JULIE: What's happening, Zeke?
DEMON: I have waited for so long for somebody to release me. Now I can conquer all the different time dimensions, with the help of my minions.
JULIE: What have we done! We are doomed.
ZEKE: No way, man! I am going to fight this ugly demon dude and send him back to his freaky dimension.
JULIE: I'm with you, Zeke.
[cut to inside the library, as the player shoots various enemies (including floating books and copy machines firing out deadly paper) while elderly male librarians and homeless people (sitting on blankets outside of the library) are yelling "Save me!" and "Over here!"]

From wikipedia.org:

Ghoul Patrol is a Super Nintendo video game that is a sequel to Zombies Ate My Neighbors. It was released in September 1994 by LucasArts and later on the Wii Virtual Console in North America on January 25, 2010 and the PAL region on May 14, 2010. A Sega Mega Drive/Genesis version published by Virgin Interactive was also to be released, but it was cancelled before launch.

The game stars Zeke and Julie, the characters from Zombies Ate My Neighbors, who must travel through five worlds to save their town from a horror exhibit come to life.

The game has a host of monsters such as flesh-eating plants, ninja spirits, and ghosts that jump out of garbage cans. There is a wide range of weapons including plasma guns, plunger arrows, squirt guns, and various other tools to defeat your enemies. According to Toshiyasu Morita, a programmer and technology manager at LucasArts during the mid-1990s, this sequel was made by a third party that licensed the use of the Zombies Ate My Neighbors engine for this purpose.

From nintendolife.com:

"Ghoul Patrol" (1994)

The main attractions at the library's goblin exhibit have come to life! As the Ghoul Patrol, go back in time and de-spook an encyclopedia of zombified historic dudes. Vaporise garbage can ghosts, ninja spirits, rescue bug-eyed librarians and wigged-out pirates, dodge flying books and adolescent-eating plants, and ultimately put the beastly spirit back in the history books!
